Rhino Battery Holster Lets You Keep Your Camera’s Power at Your Fingertips

A revolutionary way for photographers and filmmakers to carry and organize their DSLR and video camera batteries.
  • Launched: Mar 27, 2013
  • Funding ends: May 3, 2013

SO HERE'S THE PROBLEM...
I've been filming and photographing with my DSLR for a few years now and have experienced, like many others, the same problem over and over. I’m forced to switch out my batteries on shoots, run back to my bag to find fresh ones, all the while hoping I didn't miss the shot.
I've tried battery grips, but they are heavy, bulky, expensive and get in the way especially when I’m shooting video. Stuffing batteries in pockets or a fanny pack wasn't going to happen so we decided to solve the problem.
RHINO BATTERY HOLSTERS were born out of the necessity to have batteries easily and immediately accessible when you need them most. We created a hard shell holster that holds 2 LP-E6 batteries.
(Additional battery models might be available, see below for details.)

An integrated belt clip allows you to attach it on to your pants (with or without a belt), backpacks, and camera straps.

We worked with our good friends at Black Rapid to make sure Battery Holsters were compatible with their award winning straps. The belt clip on a Battery Holster is wide enough to attach to all of their straps securely.

Equipped with a 1/4-20 brass insert in the rear of the belt clip, you can attach the optional Black Rapid carabiner and clip it on to virtually anything.

WHAT CAMERAS DOES IT WORK WITH?
Battery Holsters work with any camera that takes a LP-E6 battery. These include the Canon 5D Mark II, 5D Mark III, 7D, 6D, & 60D.

Please back our project even if you battery model isn't supported yet. If we don't raise enough to support your battery model you can always retract your pledge before the project ends. Thanks!
Please note: If we raise enough money to expand Battery Holsters to support additional battery models the estimated delivery for all models except the original LP-E6 will be August of 2013.

WHAT IS THE RHINO TRIBE?
Rhino Tribe will be a major part of our new website which is launching in a few months. It will be a place where devoted Rhino fans have access to:
  • Pro-Deals from other camera gear makers
  • Discounts on Rhino Camera Gear apparel
  • Temporary promotions on Rhino Camera Gear products
  • Google Hangouts for Rhino Product Design meetings
  • Rhino Sponsored Events and After-Parties
  • Portal to promote Rhino Camera Gear and earn 20% commission to spend on Rhino Camera Gear products
This will start as an exclusive group of Rhino fans and will, initially, only be available to backers of the Production Pack pledge.
DESIGN PROCESS
We spent the last year perfecting the design of Battery Holsters. Our design was simplified from a handmade, four-piece design that was riveted together, to a one-piece injection molded battery holster. To keep with Rhino standards, we're only using the highest quality materials to make them. The technical term for the material is carbon fiber reinforced, glass filled, impact modified nylon. That just means that it's really, really durable and will never break. If they do, we’ll replace them.

PRODUCTION PLAN
We'll be manufacturing Battery Holsters in Richland, WA. We've used this molding shop to make parts on our Rhino Slider, so we trust their ability to pull off a project like this. We need to raise $15,000 to pay for the tooling to make the holsters and to cover the expense of making our first big order.
HOW DO THE BATTERIES STAY IN?
The batteries are held in place by 2 small ridges that they pass over when being pushed in. The holster design includes an adjustable tensioner that allows you to lock the batteries down as tight or as loose as you'd like depending on what you’re shooting.

Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 DG OS HSM Delayed

Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 DG OS HSM Delayed
Delay of the first “sport” product
Sigma has delayed the release of the new 120-300 f/2.8 DG OS HSM lens. This lens was to be the first in their “sport” line of lenses. Along with the lens, the USB dock they announced with it has also been delayed.
Sigma suggests that the delay is due to sourcing parts for the new lens. It was originally scheduled for a March release, but now a release date is undetermined.
Sigma has been riding a wave of great publicity because of the 35mm f/1.4, so this is a disappointment.

Pentax Full Frame DSLR Rumors/Teases Starting to Really Simmer

Pentax is heavily teasing a full frame DSLR and leaks/rumors are continuing trickle out as Pentax still tries to plug the holes before the camera is finally announced.
PenAuConfirmedFF
In the latest tease, Pentax Australia responded to a customer on Twitter who inquired about using his old Pentax lenses with a full frame DSLR. Pentax Australia suggested that he “Hold onto those lenses” and that “This might very well be the year!”
At the same time, Pentax enthusiast Rice High received a tip that Pentax is prepping for the release of this full frame DSLR possibly next month. He’s even put together a handy counter that is counting down to the rumored April 17 release date.
In the past, Pentax has poured on some teasing leading up to announcements of new DSLRs (e.g., prior to the K-7 unveiling in 2009), so we could see some more official teases very soon if the camera will, in fact, be announced in April.

New Canon 7D Mark II and 100-400mm Lens Rumors

Canon 7D Mark II
Rumors of the Canon 7D Mark II continue to trickle out as the original 7D approaches its fourth birthday. Alongside a set of rumored specifications for the pro-level APS-C DSLR, it appears that a refreshed version of the Canon EF 100-400mm IS lens may also join its ranks on the eventual announcement date (currently rumored for the September/October time frame).
The current 100-400mm lens is available at the moment for $1459 with Canon’s existing rebates. Based on Canon’s recent pricing strategy, I would surmise that pricing for a new version of this lens would be north of $2500. Not cheap, but Canon doesn’t seem to be having much of a problem moving the new 24-70mm f/2.8L at over $2k per unit.
Below are the most recent 7D Mark II specs, which are purportedly based on a prototype of the camera that is in the wild.
  • 21MP APS C
  • ISO 100-25600 (L: 50, H1 51200, H2 102400)
  • 10fps
  • Video ‘stills burst’ mode 30/60 fps
  • Full HD video with manual control
  • Single CF Card Slot
  • 19 AF Points all Cross
  • On chip phase detect pixels for liveview and AF tracking
  • 100% Viewfinder
  • Viewfinder LCD Higher Resolution Than 7D
  • 3.2″ LCD
  • GPS, WiFi
  • Alloy body with better weather sealing over 7D
Previous rumors suggested a 24MP sensor; however, the remaining specs seems to be in-line with existing rumors; however, as Northlight notes, the source is not well known so there is no history of confidence to place any sort of reliability on these rumors.

Wacom Cintiq 13HDWacom Cintiq 13HDWacom Cintiq 13HDWacom Cintiq 13HD

This camera will be available in the UK from the end of April with a guide price of £229.99.

2. Wireless Image Transfer to smartphones and computers

No wireless LAN access point or complicated ID or password entry is required, and once pictures have been downloaded to the smartphone, it’s a simple task to upload them to social networking sites.
High-quality pictures and movies*5 can be transferred hassle-free to the smartphone or tablet of anyone who has downloaded the free “FUJIFILM Camera Application”.
3. A high speed shooter
Capture high speed action with the XP200’s 10fps*4 continuous shooting mode at full resolution (max. 9 frames). You can also shoot ultra-high speed continuous shooting at up to 60fps*4 (max. 60 frames*6). With a dedicated “Burst mode” button placed on the back of the camera it’s simple to switch to continuous shooting mode, and ever so easy to capture fast paced action shots.
4. Superior image quality
At the very core of the XP200 is the camera’s 1/2.3-inch 16 million pixel CMOS sensor. With ISO sensitivity up to 6400*7 and CMOS Shift Image Stabilisation, image capture is handled with ease ensuring that sharp, clear pictures are produced, even in challenging low-light conditions. Details in shadow and in bright light can be lost on cameras with conventional sensors; however, the XP200’s CMOS sensor ensures that beautifully balanced pictures are taken.
5. Seeing is believing
The XP200 has a bright and impressive 3.0”, 920K-dot LCD screen with an anti-reflective coating which makes looking at images and data on the back of the screen really easy, even in bright sunlight. The screen features an automatic brightness adjustment feature which can be optimised to monitor brightness to account for ambient lighting, saving battery power without sacrificing clarity.
6. Get closer to the action
The well-designed XP200 features an internal 5x optical FUJINON zoom lens (28 - 140mm*8), which means that you can zoom right up to the action, even underwater. Blur free pictures are achieved through the CMOS Shift Image Stabilisation which corrects the effects of any slight shake of the hand when pressing the shutter. The technology continues to impress with the added application of Intelligent Digital Zoom. The XP200 combines its 5x optical zoom with Intelligent Digital Zoom which results in double the zoom range (10x) whilst offering optimum image processing to counteract the degradation that has traditionally occurred when digital zooms are used.
7. Rugged looks and wide appeal
The XP200 is a well-designed rugged camera with an excellent core specification that will withstand the wear and tear of your adventures. It’s got extra grip in case your hands are wet and is incredibly simple to operate, even if you’re wearing ski gloves.
8. Capture your adventures in Full HD
The XP200 allows you to take action-packed HD videos of all your escapades, perfect to show friends and family on the TV back at home what you’ve been up to. With the fast read-out and high speed processing of the CMOS image sensor and processor, the XP200 can record Full 1080i HD movies at 60fps (with high speed recording available at reduced resolution at frame rates of up to 360fps).
A new and improved Image Stabilisation system is employed when recording videos to ensure crisp results*9. And a one touch “Movie Recording” button on the back of the camera makes it just as easy to shoot videos as it is stills. Recording starts quickly at a press of the button, with just another press to stop recording.
Additional features such as FUJIFILM’s Scene Recognition Auto now also work when recording videos. Plus, advanced in-camera movie editing is available including features such as “movie trimming” to edit out unwanted footage and “movie join” to seamlessly pull together multiple video clips into a single movie.
9. Transform your photographs with special artistic filters
You can really get creative by applying FUJIFILM’s “Advanced Filters” to your photos. Just preview them on the LCD before you take your shot.ɫ
Pop Colour - Emphasises contrast and colour saturation
Toy Camera - Creates shaded borders as if you were taking a photo on a toy camera
Miniature - Adds top and bottom blur for a diorama or miniature effect
Partial Colour - Retains one selected original colour and changes the rest of the photo to black and white. Colours can be selected from red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple for dramatic effect
High Key - Enhances brightness and reduces contrast to lighten tonal reproduction
Soft Focus (NEW) - Creates a look that is evenly soft throughout the whole image
Cross Screen (NEW) - Creates starbursts around bright objects
ɫ “Miniature” and “Soft focus” cannot be previewed on the LCD but can be viewed post-capture in playback mode
10. Creative photography
The XP200 features a number of advanced features allowing greater creative flexibility. High speed multi-frame processing lets you record two shots or more at different exposures and then combine them to achieve High Dynamic Range (HDR) shots with natural contrast that preserves details in the highlights and shadows. Motion Panorama 360 lets you create a 360º panoramic shot just by selecting the mode & pressing the shutter button and spinning round in a circle. This is simple to use and the effect is superb, particularly for landscape shots. Individual shutter 3D lets you create fun images with a 3D effect by combining two shots taken from slightly different angles.
11. FinePix XP200 Key features list:
Waterproof to 15m*3 / Shockproof to 2m*3 / Dustproof*3 / Freezeproof to -10ºC*3
1/2.3-inch 16 million pixel CMOS sensor
5x optical zoom (10x Intelligent Digital Zoom)
CMOS-shift image stabilisation

MELVILLE, N.Y., March 21, 2013 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is proud to introduce a new flagship model to its popular EOS Rebel line, the EOS Rebel T5i Digital SLR Camera. The incredible image quality and performance starts with an 18 megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor and Canon’s superb DIGIC 5 Image Processor. Combined with an extensive ISO range of 100-12800 (expandable to 25600 in H mode), the EOS Rebel T5i boasts crisp, detailed images, even in low-light conditions. With a continuous shooting speed of up to 5.0 frames per second (fps) united with 9 all cross-type AF focus points, the new EOS Rebel T5i allows photographers the opportunity to shoot with ease, even in challenging shooting situations.
When shooting in Live View mode, the Hybrid CMOS AF system enables speedy and accurate autofocus for photos and video. Coupled with Canon’s new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens, available in the standard kit lens bundle, the EOS Rebel T5i takes full advantage of the Stepping Motor (STM) technology, which allows the lens to smoothly and silently focus on the subject whether it is moving or standing still. When combined with the camera’s high-resolution Vari-angle Touch Screen 3.0-inch Clear View LCD monitor II and intuitive touch controls, the EOS Rebel T5i stands as Canon’s most “consumer-friendly” DSLR.
“Built to make advanced photography creative and fun, the EOS Rebel T5i Digital SLR Camera gives users exceptional image quality and fast, intuitive operation along with creative functions to help advance photographic expression,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager, Imaging Technologies & Communications Group, Canon U.S.A.
Expand Your Creativity with New Advanced Features
The EOS Rebel T5i provides amateur and advanced photographers looking to hone their creative and technical skills with a range of features that allow for crisp, clear images.
Whether it is adding saturation to a vivid landscape or applying a unique, vintage touch to a portrait, users who want to express their creativity can experiment with different effects and settings, composing a shot, by using one of Canon’s seven Creative Filters. When the Creative Filters are applied in Live View, users can preview the filter on the vari-angle three inch LCD touch screen without having to shoot the image first. Effects such as ArtBold, Water Painting, Grainy Black and White, Soft Focus, Toy Camera, Fish-Eye and Miniature let users pick and choose how to best express their creative vision before or after the image is captured.
The EOS Rebel T5i features advanced shooting modes to take creative imaging even further. When using one of the advanced shooting modes such as Handheld Night Scene, HDR Backlight Control or Multi-Shot Noise Reduction, multiple images are taken and combined within the camera to help create the best quality image based off of the shots taken. Providing quick and easy accessibility, a new mode dial with Scene modes has been included, allowing users the flexibility to select the subject matter while the camera determines the optimal settings.
Enhanced EOS Full HD Movie Mode
The EOS Rebel T5i offers easy-to-use professional video capture. When users switch to EOS Full HD Movie mode, the EOS Rebel T5i offers the ability to shoot in 1080p Full HD video in a number of recording sizes and frame rates. With Canon’s Hybrid CMOS AF System and Movie Servo AF, the camera provides continuous AF for focus tracking of moving subjects by helping to reduce the camera’s need to “hunt”, resulting in a quick and smooth continuous AF. While shooting with one of Canon’s Stepping Motor (STM) lenses, such as the new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens, the camera will only capture the stereo sound of the scene being recorded. For added flexibility, the EOS Rebel T5i also features a built-in stereo microphone with manual audio level adjustment to enhance sound quality.
Expanded Lineup of STM Lenses
Canon is expanding the lineup of STM lenses by adding one new lens, which now gives users three choices that will allow for the capture of stunning images and video with the EOS Rebel T5i – the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, the EF 40mm f/2.8 STM and the new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens. The EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens offers high magnification in a compact and lightweight EF-S standard zoom lens with an optical image stabilizer for up to four equivalent stops for shake correction. When paired with the Hybrid CMOS AF, it allows for smooth and quiet, continuous AF for photo and video capturing – making it the perfect combination for preserving those once in a lifetime moments.
Availability
The EOS Rebel T5i Digital SLR camera is scheduled to be available in April for an estimated retail price of $749.99 for the body alone; $899.99 bundled with an EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens kit, and $1,099.00 with the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens kit.
The new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens also is also scheduled to be available separately in April at an estimated retail price of $249.99

Review – Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II

Review – Canon EF 24 f/1.4L II
By: Justin VanLeeuwen | Twitter
Discuss the Canon EF 24 f/1.4L II

I love the 24mm focal length. Some of my own personal favourite photos have been taken at 24mm. I often use the wide-end of my Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L, I definitely use my 24mm f/3.5 L TS-E, and, though I sold it when I owned it, I’ve taken some memorable photos with the Canon 24 1.4 L II. Wait, what? Sold? Yes. While I found the colour and contrast on the lens to be as good as I had ever seen, I wasn’t using it to the fullest of it’s abilities; namely the widest aperture available on a Canon wide-angle lens.
 Review – Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II

Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II
Wide-angle lenses have a few benefits beyond expanding your field of view. 24Mm isn’t so wide that your edges are dramatically elongated or distorted, but not so telephoto that you can’t help emphasize foreground objects just by being closer to them. Shorter focal lengths have the added benefit of requiring a slightly slower shutter speed to achieve sharper images. At 24mm I can confidently shoot at 1/20th of a second and achieve desirable results (though 1/30th or more would be better), including potential motion blur of faster moving objects.
Build
The Canon 24mm f/1.4 L II is stout and sturdy. It feels like it’s built like a tank. A metal body gives it substantial weight and increases my confidence when using it that very little harm could come to it. It has a 77mm front thread, has a weather sealing ring at the rear and comes with a petal shaped EW-83K hood to help reduce flare – something wide-angle lenses are particularly prone to. Full time manual focus is enabled with the lens is in AF and I find the focusing ring smooth in it’s movements; certainly good for video.

Image
Truly, this lens’ optics are some of the best I’ve experience on a Canon lens. It’s not so much the sharpness (though it is) it’s the “feel” of the images, the 3D look you achieve on a wide-angle portrait that’s near impossible with any similar lenses at f/4 or 5.6. The colour rendition is superb, and the way the lens handles contrast and flare just adds to every image you make. While chromatic aberration and fringing is present in some scenes, it’s remarkably well controlled compared to many other L primes.
I’ve mentioned this in my previous reviews, but I have a personal focus issue. It’s not A.D.D., I just have a very difficult time focusing lenses wide-open. I find, when shooting at f/1.4 even with micro-adjustment in-camera, I needed to use live-view to help guide my focus better. Stopped down to f/2 still gives you great results, ones that are better than any other 24mm lens Canon produces.
Something I rarely mind in my telephoto lenses is vignetting. On a wide-angle lens, however, it becomes a nuisance when your field of view covers more area, it almost results in a spot-light effect (see the above image as an example). Stopping down helps this slightly, but not until around f/4, by then you’ve also lost a lot of the shallow depth of field appeal that this lens offers. This issue is clearly diminished on crop sensor bodies like the Canon 7D, which married very well to the 24mm lens (giving it a relative ~38mm apparent focal length).
This lens truly shines when your subjects are within the .25m – 3m range. The closer the better to throw the background right out of focus. Where you may have to stop down on some of the zoom lenses from f/2.8 to f/4, you can comfortably shoot at f/2 knowing you’ve isolated your foreground subject from the background.

Serina – Canon EOS 5D Mark II, EF 24mm f/1.4L II at 1/80th, f/2.2, ISO 100
Who’s it for?
Photojournalists and Wedding photographers and any other shooters who find themselves documenting daily, or special, events. Not only is 24mm one of my favourite focal lengths to create environmental portraiture, the extra leverage f/1.4 and it’s shallow depth of field buys you will help you isolate your subjects from a potentially chaotic background. The build and relatively small size of the lens will also help you photograph without being potentially obtrusive (of course you may need to move closer to your subjects to frame them properly).
For editorial work this lens would work great photographing your subject in their environment, and then switching to photographic vignettes of your location, focusing on objects and details. The shallow depth of field will draw attention to exactly what you want your viewers to focus on.
I often find myself shooting events, and in tight spaces group photos may need me to use a 24mm focal length, but unless everyone is perfectly aligned I couldn’t possibly shoot with this at f/1.4; the versatility of a zoom is useful here, as I often shoot at f/5.6 or so to make sure all my subjects are in focus.
I have seen some incredible astro-photography done with a 24mm f/1.4 lens, though I haven’t explored this type of work myself, using the fast aperture with a camera’s high-ISO capabilities can allow for unprecedented abilities to gather light, at shutter speeds that to not leave light-trails.
I do not recommend this lens for people involved in real-estate or interior photography, not only is the Canon 24mm f/3.5 L II TS-E built for that kind of work, the extreme vignetting at the edges will ruin an otherwise consistent colour tone on your walls.
Younes & Amanda - Canon EOS 7D, EF 24mm f/1.4L II at 1/2500th, f/2.2, ISO 250
Younes & Amanda – Canon EOS 7D, EF 24mm f/1.4L II at 1/2500th, f/2.2, ISO 250
Conclusion
One of the most impressive lenses I’ve ever used, in build and quality of images, yet I still sold it. Why? I found myself missing focus very often, this is a personal handicap, and not any fault of the lens. If you live in the world of wide-apertures and can rock a fifty or eight-five wide-open then this lens will certainly lend itself to your style and kit.
On a crop body, even though you’re losing much of what a wide-angle lens has to offer, you’ve bought yourself an interesting focal length that will still work great for environmental portraits, without having to purchase an ultra-wide-angle lens like the 14mm f/2.8 L. For those making a crop to full-frame jump, I suggest you rent the lens first – you may not be used to just how wide 24mm actually is.
As a full-frame user, the Canon 24mm f/1.4 L II will help round out your arsenal. If you already have a kit consisting of primes, or if you feel your zoom just doesn’t offer the shallow depth of field you need for your images, this lens will not disappoint.
Shooting wide-open is a choice, and it can certainly produce pleasing results. If that’s not indicative of your style, and you’re not willing to have a few misses because your focus was slightly off, there are some excellent zoom lenses that can be had for a few dollars more, or even the new Canon 24mm f/2.8 IS – if image stabalization is something you think you need.
The culmination of colour rendition, sharpness, and a shallow depth of field will help you create unique and truly memorable images with the Canon 24mm f/1.4 L II, one of the best lenses Canon has to offer.
Pro’s
  • Incredible image quality
  • Shallow Depth of field
  • Solid build
  • Great image character when shot wide open
  • A very reliable lens under hard use
  • An easy lens to find used for a good price
Con’s
  • You pay for what you get – price to match the quality
  • Weight (probably answered my own question above), solid build brings the weight.
  • Some may not like the vignetting when shot wide open, though easily correctable.
  • Be conscience of distortion when shooting people close up, easy to correct in Lightroom if needed.

Canon Press Release
Canon unveils the smallest and lightest DSLR ever made, the EOS 100D, alongside the EOS 700D to let your creativity grow
United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, 21 March 2013 – Canon today unveils two new first-class additions to its entry-level consumer DSLR line-up – the EOS 700D and the smallest and lightest APS-C DSLR ever made[1] the EOS 100D. Complemented by the introduction of a new standard zoom lens, the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM.
The EOS 100D offers a range of simple controls and a helpful in-camera feature guide, perfect for those looking to explore the world of DSLR photography for the first time but without the bulk normally associated with a DSLR. The EOS 700D is Canon’s most advanced consumer EOS model to date. Boasting 5fps shooting, a wide 9-point all cross type AF system and Vari-angle Clear View II LCD touch screen, it is the ideal camera for those wanting to develop their photography skills further. Both new models offer outstanding 18 Megapixel (MP) resolution with simple touch screen operation, making it easy to capture and relive every moment in stunning detail, whatever your skill level
The new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM is the ideal standard zoom lens for both new EOS cameras, combining Canon’s leading Optical Image Stabilizer and Stepping Motor (STM) technologies to deliver minimal image blur and smooth, near-silent focus in movies.
The EOS 100D – a DSLR you’ll never want to leave behind
The EOS 100D is the smallest and lightest APS-C DSLR in its class[2] making it compact enough to take everywhere so you can capture adventures in stunning quality. Measuring just 116.8 x 90.7 x 69.4mm and weighing only 407g, the incredibly lightweight and compact body also features a bright Optical Viewfinder – giving users the full, responsive experience of a DSLR in a compact form. The EOS 100D also features a large 7.7cm (3.0”) ClearView II Capacitive Touch screen – making it easy to adjust settings and instantly review shots after capture.

At the EOS 100D’s heart is a new 18 MP APS-C Hybrid CMOS AF II Sensor, which combines with the power of the DIGIC 5 image processor to deliver stunning results in virtually any situation. The new sensor uses phase detection pixels spread across 80 per cent of the sensor’s imaging surface to provide increased AF speed and tracking performance when the camera is in live view or when capturing Full-HD movies. Capable of shooting at speeds of up to 4fps, the EOS 100D makes it easy for beginners to capture a range of high quality images, be it of special moments with family and friends or fast-paced action on holiday.
The EOS 700D - let your creativity grow
The EOS 700D is powered by a Canon-designed and manufactured 18.0MP APS-C Hybrid CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5 image processor, which deliver outstanding levels of resolution – producing images that are consistently rich in detail and colour. Offering up to 5fps shooting, the EOS 700D is ideal for capturing a range of subjects, from fast paced action to stunning skylines, or beautiful portraits of family and friends. Additionally with a native 100-12,800 ISO range, the EOS 700D is capable of catching remarkable levels of detail even when shooting in tricky low light conditions.
The EOS 700D’s advanced AF System consists of 9 high performance, cross-type points spread across the frame, delivering greater focussing speed and accuracy to ensure photographers can always keep desired subjects in focus, even as they move around. With the option to manually select and adjust focus points, or simply use full automatic mode, the EOS 700D provides aspiring photographers with an easy way to explore different kinds of image composition as their confidence grows.
The EOS 700D features a new, simplified 360° rotating mode dial to provide easy and swift access to the camera’s various shooting modes. A 7.7cm (3.0”) Vari-angle Clear View LCD II Touch screen also makes it easy for users to adjust settings as well as frame, shoot and review from a variety of angles. A new external coating, adopted from Canon’s mid-range EOS models, also provides a more robust and durable finish.
Enhanced creative modes
Both the EOS 700D and EOS 100D feature a range of super easy-to-use shooting modes and creative filters – making it simple for beginners to start with creative pre-sets and then explore their creativity as their confidence grows. Scene Intelligent Auto mode automatically detects the scene being shot and selects best settings so users can simply focus on the image, letting the camera decide the best combination of settings for the scene.  Both new models also offer a range of dedicated scene modes, with the EOS 100D featuring new Kids, Food and Candlelight modes, designed to ensure optimum results with stunning detail in a range of familiar situations.
Canon’s exciting range of Creative Filters, including Fish-eye and Miniature effect, can now be applied before capture thanks to new real-time filter previews – providing the perfect way to pick the most suitable effect for specific moments before you actually take the shot. Photographers can also learn how to adjust their images with enhanced Creative Auto Mode, and using new Extra Effect Shot mode on the EOS 100D, users can even capture two images simultaneously – one with a Creative Filter applied, as well as one standard image.
Explore videography with EOS Movies
Aspiring photographers can add another dimension to capturing their memories, using EOS Movies to shoot their precious moments in glorious Full HD resolution (1920x1080p). Hybrid AF II[3] always keeps the stars of the movie in focus, with continuous AF constantly tracking subjects during shooting. Additionally, Video Snapshot mode makes it easy to capture and edit short video clips to bring to life an exciting day, such as road trips and weddings.
EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM – A standard STM zoom lens, for everyday photos and video
The new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM is the perfect lens for EOS 700D and EOS 100D users to start their photography adventure. From sweeping landscapes to portraits, the versatile 18-55mm zoom range means users can enjoy the flexibility of getting close to subjects or getting more in the shot. Images are captured with precision detail and clarity thanks to a 4-stop Optical Image Stabilizer, which also lets photographers use lower ISO levels and longer shutter speeds. The full time manual focus ring allows users to make precise focus adjustments, while the near-silent STM technology also ensures noise is kept to a minimum whilst focusing – perfect for when capturing movies.

New Canon EOS Rebel T5i Digital SLR Camera Packs Performance With New Creative Controls
Canon is expanding the lineup of STM lenses by adding one new lens, which now gives users three choices that will allow for the capture of stunning images and video with the EOS Rebel T5i - the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, the EF 40mm f/2.8 STM and the new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens. The EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens offers high magnification in a compact and lightweight EF-S standard zoom lens with an optical image stabilizer for up to four equivalent stops for shake correction. When paired with the Hybrid CMOS AF, it allows for smooth and quiet, continuous AF for photo and video capturing - making it the perfect combination for preserving those once in a lifetime moments.
