A Graphical Comparison of Mirrorless Camera Sensors Sizes

A Graphical Comparison of Mirrorless Camera Sensors Sizes mirrorlesssensors
Mirrorless cameras feature sensors larger than compact cameras and bodies smaller than DSLRs, but how do their sensor sizes compare with one another? To give you a better idea of how formats such as Nikon CX and Olympus/Panasonic Four Thirds stack up against each other, Digital Camera Database created this helpful graphic showing the relative sizes of each format.

Sony’s new RX1 proves that full-frame sensors can be stuffed into mirrorless-sized cameras. Sadly, that camera doesn’t offer interchangeable lenses, but over the next few years we may see more cameras filling up that last column that’s currently dominated by Leica rangefinders.
The graphic above only covers the common sensor formats used in mirrorless cameras. If you want to see how your non-mirrorless camera’s sensor compares to the ones above, check out this handy comparison found over on Wikipedia:

Official DXOMark Sensor Score for the EOS-1D X

Official Numbers are in
For the people that like the numbers game, DXOMark has released their official score for the Canon EOS-1D X.
The numbers don’t look too bad, though they don’t tell the whole story about the EOS-1D X. I think it’s currently the best DSLR as a whole currently on the market, unless you want the big resolution of the D800.

Imverter.com recognizes 500+ image formats including RAW photo formats (CR2, NEF, ARW), vectored graphics (CDR, SVG, DXF), postscript formats (PDF, AI, EPS) and also dozens of little-known or unpopular picture formats.

Google Nexus 10

News image
Developed in partnership with Samsung, the Google Nexus 10 is an Android 4.2 powered 10” tablet with a 2560x1600-pixel display boasting a resolution of 300ppi. The panel’s aspect ratio is 8:5 (or, as display manufacturers like to put it, 16:10), which falls between the classic 3:2 proportion of photos taken by most 35mm film cameras and digital SLRs, and the widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio of HD movies. The 300ppi resolution bests the 264ppi Retina display of the Apple iPad 4 and matches that of standard photographic prints, making it especially attractive to photographers in need of a device to showcase their portfolio. Equipped with two camera modules (a 5-megapixel main camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing unit), microUSB and microHDMI ports, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity (but no memory card slot or 3G/4G support), the Nexus 10 will hit the shelves on 13th November in the UK, US, Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Canada and Japan in two versions, with the 16GB model costing £319/$399 and the 32GB variant selling for £389/$499.
Google has also announced the Nexus 4 smartphone and an updated version of its Nexus 7 tablet, both of which come with the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS on board.

Nexus: The best of Google, now in three sizes
October 29, 2012
People increasingly have more than one device, and they switch between them many times a day. Nexus—Google’s hardware line for Android devices—gets rid of the hassle. Just sign in with your Google Account and everything is there ready to go, whatever device you’re using: photos, emails, contacts, bookmarks, even your entertainment on Google Play.
Today, we’re excited to announce three great new Nexus devices … in small, medium and large. And they all run Android 4.2, a new flavor of Jelly Bean—which includes the latest version of Google Now and other great new features.
Nexus 4 with Google Now and Photo Sphere
Nexus 4 is our latest smartphone, developed together with LG. It has a quad-core processor which means it’s super fast, a crisp 4.7” (320 ppi) display that’s perfect for looking at photos and watching YouTube, and with wireless charging you just set the phone down on a charging surface to power it up, no wires needed. While Nexus 4 is incredibly powerful under the hood, it also features the latest version of Jelly Bean, Android 4.2—the simplest and smartest version of Android yet. Starting with the camera, we’ve reinvented the photo experience with Photo Sphere, which lets you capture images that are literally larger than life. Snap shots up, down and in every direction to create stunning 360-degree immersive experiences that you can share on Google+ with friends and family—or you can add your Photo Sphere to Google Maps for the world to see.
Android 4.2 brings other great goodies like Gesture Typing, which lets you glide your finger over the letters you want to type on the keyboard—it makes typing fast, fun and a whole lot simpler. Android 4.2 also adds support for wireless display so you can wirelessly watch movies, YouTube videos and play games right on your Miracast-compatible HDTV.
Learn more about all of the new features of Android 4.2, Jelly Bean, here.
Google Now—even more useful
We designed Google Now to make life simpler by giving you the right information at just the right time in easy to read cards, before you even ask. And the feedback has been awesome. So today we’re adding more cards that we hope you’ll find useful. Flight information, restaurant reservations, hotel confirmations and shipping details—how often have you found yourself wading through your email to get this information at the last moment? So next time you book a table for dinner, you’ll get a reminder with all the details without ever having to lift a finger. You’ll also get cards for nearby attractions, interesting photo spots, movies times at nearby theaters or concerts by your favorite artists.
Nexus 7: Thin, light and now even more portable
Nexus 7 brings you the best of Google–YouTube, Chrome, Gmail, Maps–and all the great content from Google Play in a slim, portable package that fits perfectly in your hand. To give you more room for all that great content you can now get Nexus 7 with 16GB ($199) or 32GB ($249) of storage. But we also wanted to make this highly portable tablet even more mobile. So we added HSPA+ mobile data. Nexus 7 is now also available with 32GB and HSPA+ mobile ($299), which can operate on more than 200 GSM providers worldwide, including AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S.
Nexus 10: Powerful and shareable
Nexus 10 is the ultimate tablet for watching movies or reading magazines. We wanted to build a premium entertainment device, so we partnered with Samsung to do just that. Nexus 10 is the highest resolution tablet on the planet with a 10.055” display at 2560-by-1600 (300ppi), that’s over 4 million pixels right in your hands. It comes with a powerful battery that will get you up to nine hours of video playback and more than 500 hours of standby time. With a set of front-facing stereo speakers, you can watch movies right from your Nexus 10 and they simply sound awesome. But what makes Nexus 10 unique is that it’s the first truly shareable tablet. With Android 4.2, you can add multiple users and switch between them instantly right from the lockscreen. We believe that everyone should have quick and easy access to their own stuff—email, apps, bookmarks, and more. That way, everyone can have their own home screens, their own music, and even their own high scores.
Google Play: More entertainment, more countries
We’ve recently added a ton of great new entertainment to Google Play, such as movies and TV shows from Twentieth Century Fox. Earlier this year we expanded our service beyond movie rentals and now you can purchase movies and build a library of your favorites in Google Play. Today we’re bringing movie purchasing to more countries - Canada, the U.K., France, Spain and Australia.
We’re also excited to announce two new partnerships. We’re now working with Time, Inc. to bring you even more magazines like InStyle, PEOPLE, TIME and others. And we’ve partnered with Warner Music Group who will be adding their full music catalog with new songs coming each day. We’re now working with all of the major record labels globally, and all the major U.S. magazine publishers, as well as many independent labels, artists and publishers.
On November 13, we’re bringing music on Google Play to Europe.  Those of you in the U.K, France, Germany, Italy and Spain will be able to purchase music from the Google Play store and add up to 20,000 songs—for free—from your existing collection to the cloud for streaming to your Android devices or web browser. We’re also launching our new matching feature to streamline the process of uploading your personal music to Google Play. We’ll scan your music collection and any song we match against the Google Play catalog will be automatically added to your online library without needing to upload it, saving you time. This will be available in Europe at launch on November 13 and is coming to the U.S. soon after. This will all be for free—free storage of your music, free matching, free syncing across your devices and free listening.
Great value
We’ve always focused on building great devices at great value.  And we think today’s devices offer the very best that money can buy. Here are more details on when and where you can pick up your next Nexus device:
Nexus 4: 8GB for $299; 16GB for $349; available unlocked and without a contract on 11/13 on the Google Play store in the U.S., U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain and Canada. The 16GB version will also be available through T-Mobile for $199, with a 2-year contract (check here for more details).
Nexus 7: 16GB for $199 and 32GB for $249; available in the U.S., U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Canada and Japan, and also through our retail partners Gamestop, Office Depot, Office Max, Staples and Walmart.
Nexus 7 with 32GB and mobile data: $299 and unlocked, on sale 11/13 in the Google Play store in the U.S., U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain and Canada.
Nexus 10: 16GB for $399; 32GB for $499; available on 11/13 in the Google Play Store in the U.S., U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Canada and Japan.
A Nexus device is much more than simply a phone or tablet. It’s your connection to the best of Google—all of your stuff and entertainment, everywhere you go with no hassle.  Now you have three new Nexus devices, a new improved version of Jelly Bean and more entertainment than ever before—all available on Google Play. AKVIS Press Release
AKVIS Chameleon v.8.0: Photo Collage Creation Made Easy
October 26, 2012—AKVIS announces the release of AKVIS Chameleon v.8.0 for Windows and Macintosh. The program is a true breakthrough in photo collage creation. Version 8.0 presents the Guidelines which help you to precisely position the fragment on the background image. The software is available as a standalone application as well as a plugin for Photoshop and other graphics editors, for Win and Mac. The new version is compatible with Mac OS X 10.8.
AKVIS Chameleon is an efficient photo collage creation software.
This ingenious program is fun to use and makes the process easy and entertaining. The software is very easy to handle as it does not require precise selection of objects! You can concentrate on the creative part and forget about complicated selection techniques.
The software works in four modes of collage creation: Montage mode, Chameleon mode, Blend mode, and Emersion mode; which help you to create seamless montages that automatically smooth edges, make the object semi-transparent dissolving the pasted image in the background, etc.
Each mode offers its own unique features. For example, in Chameleon mode, from which the program gets its name, an object is pasted into a picture adapting to the new color range and blending with the background, as chameleons do.
You can use the software in many ways. You can create customized postcards for your loved ones; make a wedding album using all kinds of photos and backgrounds; correct closed eyes by implanting open eyes from another photo of the series, change the appearance of a person, create the effect of drawing on a texture surface, etc. You can combine images with entirely different color ranges - with just a few mouse clicks!
Version 8.0 presents the Guidelines feature which helps you to precisely position the fragment on the background image. The new version is compatible with Mac OS X 10.8.
Users of the latest versions (v.5-7) of AKVIS Chameleon can upgrade to version 8.0 for free.
For a free trial, AKVIS offers 10 days of fully functional use. Download AKVIS Chameleon v.8.0 and try all its features.
The software is available in two editions: as a standalone program and as a plugin to image editors. The plug-in version of AKVIS Chameleon is compatible with Adobe and Corel products and other popular programs.
AKVIS Chameleon works on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 and Mac OS X 10.4-10.8, both 32 and 64 bit.
The product sells for $75 USD, downloadable from akvis.com. Please consult the comparison table for more details about license types and versions of the software.

How to Create the Zoom Blur Effect

How to Create the Zoom Blur Effect Image

Have you ever been out and about with your camera and have lost all inspiration, you just cant seem to get your creative juices flowing and every shot you take seems dull and boring, well whenever it happens to me I always do this one great effect and before I know it hours have flown by and I have lots of amazing photos.
What’s this effect I hear you ask well I call it the blurred zoom effect its zooming while you are pressing the shutter realise button at the same time.
Here is an article explaining how to do it, like every thing in life, it becomes easy after a little bit of practice.

1. Control the amount of zoom

In simplistic terms you are zooming at the same time as pressing the shutter release button, but there are different techniques that you can use to do this.
Sometime you will need to control the amount that you zoom as the effect can be too much, so you can zoom half the range of your zoom lens allows.
Make sure you experiment with the zooming, from out to in and the other way around or even try stopping for a split second through the shot to see what results you get. You can also try zooming out fast and then slowly and see what effect this has, just experiment and have some fun with it.

2. Watch out for the light levels

In photography they say light is your friend but using this technique with too much light can make it tough getting these results, All these shot were taken on an overcast day, also early evening is another great time to take these kinds of photos. The problem is when there is too much light you can easily over expose the photos which makes them come out too light. One way of reducing this is by having the aperture up high like F32 in some extreme cases as this make the hole in your camera lens very small which reduces the amount of light which enters the camera.
How to Create the Zoom Blur Effect
Another tip is to put your ISO down to 100 as this makes the sensor in your camera less reactive to the light, which increases your chances of getting this style of shots as this will help reduce over exposure.

3. Keeping the camera still

Ok easier said then done but you need to keep the camera nice and still when you are using this technique, make sure you are holding the camera securely as you zoom in or out. I even go to the extent of breathing out softly, this helps keep you and your camera stay nice and still.
One of the very few times you could use a tripod during the day light is when you are trying to get these results, put the camera on a tripod and all you need to worry about is your zoom speed as the camera is now perfectly still this produces a different style of photo compared to hand held zoom effect photography.

How to Create the Zoom Blur Effect Image

4. Shutter priority mode

These photos that I took were in the middle of an over cast day, because there was quite a lot of light I had to do a few things to the camera first before I could take these style of photos.
Once I have put the ISO low to make the sensor less sensitive to light I then select the Shutter priority mode on my camera.
Now the beauty of shutter priority is that the shutter speed is the only other setting you need to worry about, as a rule of thumb I always put my camera at 1 second shutter speed then take a few test shots to see the effects. I then speed up or slow down to get the effects that I want.

5. Let's go full manual

Some times it just pays to go full manual so lets get the basics setting set first.  Like shutter priority mode we want the ISO down low to 100 as a base point.  We will then put the shutter speed to 1 second as starting point as mentioned above and then position the aperture setting to the correct setting so the photo is correctly exposed which will probably be around the F20-F30 range if this is during an overcast day. Now we adjust the shutter speed until we get the blurred zoom effect that we like and tweak the aperture so we get perfect exposure.  A top tip is to always check your cameras light meter for the correct exposure.

Phase One Releases Capture One Pro 7
New Processing Engine Drives an Image Quality Revolution
COPENHAGEN, October 25, 2012 — Phase One, the world’s leader in open-platform, high-end camera systems and solutions, today released Capture One Pro 7. Capture One Pro is the advanced digital imaging software for professional photographers who require superior image quality, maximum workflow efficiency and the flexibility to work the way they want to work.
Capture One Pro 7 is a major release built on a new processing engine with new and advanced professional tools that dramatically boost out-of-the-box image quality, offering exquisite detail and color rendition. Powerful digital asset management functionality, derived from years of technical expertise built into the Media Pro catalog system, has been added to offer more options to select, search and organize image files. And the world’s most advanced tethering shooting solution now includes Live View support for selected DSLRs.
“Phase One engineers have unique advantages in developing image processing software: their high-end digital hardware expertise, their enduring passion for perfection and their collaboration with some of the world’s best photographers,” said Linda K. Poulsen, Software Marketing Director, Phase One.
“Image quality is always our prime directive,” said Niels V. Knudsen, Vice President of Innovation and Application Development, Phase One’s popular ‘Image Quality Professor.’ “We are proud to introduce what we believe is the world’s best professional imaging software, and we wish to thank photographers around the globe for inspiring us to meet their needs for high quality images with a natural look and feel.”
A Revolution in Image Quality
Advancements in the Capture One raw processing engine yield vastly more accurate rendition of details and colors. While medium format camera systems with Capture One Pro achieve the highest-level results, DSLR users will see stellar performance from their cameras too.  A highly advanced noise reduction algorithm has been added that gives stunning performance at even high ISO levels. Precision adjustment tools offer greatly enhanced dynamic range for astonishing details in both shadows and highlights, reveal fine details and structure, reduce the effect of haze and give images a more three-dimensional look and add local contrast and saturation to images for extra punch. The new OpenCL implementation yields faster browsing and higher-speed image processing.
Powerful Digital Asset Management
Next to the familiar and proven sessions approach, Capture One Pro users can now organize their image files via comprehensive and flexible catalogs. Incorporating powerful digital asset management features found in Media Pro, they can work with multiple catalogs at the same time; share catalogs with other users; switch between different catalogs without relaunching; easily tag images for later search and retrieval; and browse and adjust images when the original images files are offline.
Workflow Advances
From capture to final output, Capture One Pro 7 has been optimized for efficiency. Capture One Pro’s support for instant tethered shooting is renowned for its ease (just plug in and shoot) with both medium format and high-end DSLR cameras. Now Live View is available for selected DSLRs aiding composition and critical focus.
Capture One Pro 7 has a selection of default lens profiles that can be chosen to automatically correct any unwanted optical issues. Capture One Pro 7 speeds delivery of final image files to clients and colleagues in whatever format, size, or resolution they need.

Cokin Pure Harmonie

News image
Cokin’s new Pure Harmonie filters are billed as the smallest and lightest photo filters in the world. With a thickness of 3.3mm for the Multi-Coated Anti-UV (UV MC), 4.5mm for the Circular Polarizer (C PL) and 9.5mm for the Variable Density Neutral Gray (ND X), Cokin Pure Harmonie filters are super-lightweight and cause no vignetting. The new line-up will be available in stores by the end of the year, in a variety of sizes.
Cokin Press Release
Cokin introduces PURE Harmonie filters
The thinnest and the lightest filters in the world.
After intensive research and development, Cokin is proud to present its PURE Harmonie line of round photo filters.
PURE Harmonie filters are the thinnest and the lightest in the world. With a thickness of 3.3mm for the Multi-Coated Anti-UV (UV MC), 4.5mm for the Circular Polarizer (C PL) and 9.5mm for the Variable Density Neutral Gray (ND X) they are almost invisible when mounted on your lens. Their weight is so light that you won’t even notice that they are attached. They have been engineered with no compromise: very robust, compatible with all lens caps and multi-coated with EVERCLEAR 5 Coating Technology to withstand almost any conditions. Super lightweight for maximum AF performance and ultra-shallow profile to prevent vignetting, they are just perfect. They are PURE.
Anti-UV filters are used to prevent ultraviolet light from getting through the lens, by reducing haziness or fogginess caused by that type of light. Anti-UV filters offer a physical protection from dust or scratches to the lens. PURE Harmonie UV MC filters are made of extremely resistant glass with very high level of light transmission. Thanks to their extreme thinness, PURE Harmonie UV MC filters also prevent from lens flare that could occur when using traditional UV filters.
Circular Polarizer filters are used to reduce reflections from non-metallic surfaces (windows, water and so on) and increase density within the sky and/or foliage by absorbing reflected light. They also allow to emphasize details such as clouds and makes pictures crisper, with deeper color tones. Their effect cannot be achieved with a computer software.
Neutral Density filters are used to reduce the quantity of light that reaches the sensor of the camera. They allow you to decrease the shutter speed in order to achieve motion blur (waterfalls, ocean, clouds…) and/or to reduce depth of field in very bright conditions. As they are “neutral”, ND filters do not affect color rendition. With PURE Harmonie Variable Density Neutral Gray filters, users can select the intensity from ND2 (1 f-stop) to ND400 (8+ f-stops) by rotating the front ring.
EVERCLEAR 5 Coating Technology is a multi-layered coating. The “5” stands for the benefits of this coating on the filter: Water Repellent - Anti-Oil - Anti-Dust - Anti-Soil - Scratch Resistant.

Dxo Press Release
DxO Optics Pro 8 introduces DxO Smart Lighting allowing greater photo details and more vivid colors
Comprehensive image content analysis coupled with camera calibration pushes image quality even further
Software will be available on October 29, 2012 at a 33% discount through November 15th

October 24, 2012 - DxO Labs announces the October 29th availability of DxO Optics Pro 8, a major new release of its image quality processing software of reference for all demanding photographers. Available for both Mac and Windows, DxO Optics Pro 8 provides the best tool for automatically adjusting contrast and light, the most advanced optical corrections, and even finer and more precise color management. Its enhanced performance and improved interface deliver a better user experience.
DxO Optics Pro is based on a unique approach consisting of extensive camera and lens calibrations in DxO Labs’ laboratories. The software integrates several powerful tools delivering automatic RAW and JPEG image processing for both amateur photographers and experts: optical and geometrical corrections, exposure and contrast, noise reduction, and color and detail preservation.
DxO Optics Pro’s many presets allow photographers to process images according to their own taste, getting in just a few cliks the best out of their photos, whatever the shooting conditions.
DxO Smart Lighting: Mastering the light with one slider
New DxO Smart Lighting brightens up photos by optimizing contrast and lighting quickly and efficiently. This exclusive DxO Labs technology intelligently adapts to image content and allows users to easily adjust image contrast using a single slider. DxO Smart Lighting automatically recovers details both in highlights and shadows under even the most extreme shooting conditions.
For more advanced users, DxO Optics Pro 8 offers a new Selective tone tool that allows them to apply precise corrections separately to highlights, midtones, and dark zones.
Brilliant and fully textured colors
The Protection of saturated colors tool can restore a significant number of details and rich textures hidden in areas of vivid or saturated color that can appear flatly uniform to the eye.
DxO Optics Pro 8 automatically applies the color rendering settings chosen by the photographer while precisely taking into account the current image content. Textures in vivid colors reappear, revealing all the details in the image.
Exceptional optical corrections: Even more supported lenses
Flaws in photos are specific to the combination of lens and camera used. DxO Labs has measured nearly 10,000 combinations to provide the specific corrections required for each camera.
Developed in DxO Labs’ laboratory using an exclusive calibration process, DxO Optics Modules contain tens of thousands of data about the inner characteristics and flaws of each camera and lens. This unique and world exclusive database allows DxO Optics Pro to automatically correct all optical flaws with an unrivaled level of quality, for both RAW and JPEG images, including distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberrations, and lens softness.
DxO Optics Pro 8 further improves the correction of chromatic aberrations for RAW-format images by combining DxO Optics Module data with image content analysis.
The Lens softness tool, also based on DxO Optics Modules, automatically boosts lens resolution by homogenizing sharpness across the field. Optimized in DxO Optics Pro 8, the tool gives photographers extremely sharp images from the center of the image right out to the edges, even when the settings are pushed to high levels.
The opening of a new laboratory in Seattle has reinforced DxO Labs’ measurement and calibration capacity. Now with six laboratories located in both Europe and the United States, DxO Labs has set a goal of providing 20,000 available DxO Optics Modules by the end of 2013.
A smoother user experience: Regrouping features and Retina screen optimization
DxO Labs has extensively revised the DxO Optics Pro 8 interface for more user comfort. The most commonly used functions have been regrouped to offer photographers easier visibility and handling.
A specific workspace brings together the most important and common operations such as white balance, color and contrast adjustment, and exposure compensation. Similarly, many advanced tools have been more logically reorganized in different palettes.
DxO Optics Pro 8’s Mac interface has been entirely redesigned to take advantage of all the visual quality offered by Retina screens. Photographers can now enjoy unprecedented displayed details in their images!
Faster and truer viewing: A more efficient display and workflow
Beyond the improvements in terms of image quality and interface, DxO Optics Pro 8 has increased display speed.
Thumbnails now display in real time the current state of the photo, thanks to live preview. The user can now instantly figure out if a photo is the original one or the working version.
To improve workflow further, now every photo once opened in DxO Optics Pro instantaneously loads, even after closing and reopening the application - a real time-saver.
New tools: Print module and new Output settings options
DxO Optics Pro 8 now includes a new integrated print module allowing photographers to directly print RAW or JPEG images on the fly as they preview them. Different print modes and layout options are available, from contact sheet to full page printing.
As a part of the new Output settings options, users can now also adjust the destination and size and choose among several resampling solutions.

London, UK, 24 October 2012: Nikon today introduces the ultra-fast Nikon 1 V2 and propels the Nikon 1 family full speed ahead.
The first camera in the family to be equipped with second-generation Nikon 1 technology, the Nikon 1 V2 builds on the astonishing speed and portable design that helped Nikon 1 become the biggest-selling compact camera system across Europe .
Offering new levels of speed and more accurate performance, as well as clever next-generation features, full creative control, and wireless methods of image transfer, the Nikon 1 V2 is a versatile main camera and a superb second camera. Designed for enthusiasts, it ensures that no one has to compromise on still image or movie quality just because they want to travel light.
Simon Iddon, Product Manager, Nikon 1 Compact System Cameras, Nikon UK, says, “The Nikon 1 V2 is an ideal second camera for photographers looking for a combination of creative freedom, quick response and the flexibility to change lenses in a small portable design.
He adds: “The option to shoot with 1 NIKKOR lenses or a favorite Nikon D-SLR lens, as well as camera ergonomics familiar to enthusiasts will make the Nikon 1 V2 the first choice for D-SLR owners.”
Full Speed Ahead
First-generation Nikon 1 technology introduced photographic intelligence and beauty at world-beating speeds. Now, the Nikon 1 V2 raises the bar with Nikon’s next-generation EXPEED 3A dual-image processor that can process images at an incredible 850 megapixels-per-second. Swift shooting speeds of up to 15 fps with continuous autofocus, and up to 60 fps with fixed-point AF, enable high-quality images of even super-fast action. Subjects come into focus without delay thanks to the advanced hybrid AF system that boasts fast phase-detection AF for high-speed movement, and contrast-detect AF for capturing subtle details even in low light. The sensor instantly switches between the 73 phase-detection focus areas and the 135 contrast-detect focus areas depending on the scene, ensuring superb images and movies in a wide range of environments.
Low light, high performance
With an increased 14.2-megapixel resolution and 160 to 6400 ISO light sensitivity, the Nikon 1 V2 delivers detailed photos and movies, even when you shoot in low light situations. Nikon’s CX-format CMOS sensor offers the ideal balance between system size, speed, light sensitivity, resolution, and depth-of-field, enabling high-quality still image and movie recording without sacrificing portability. The option to shoot with high ISO settings means you’ll capture enough light even when shooting at speeds of up to 60 fps, and an automatic image sensor cleaning function minimises the effect of dust.
Designed for Enthusiasts
Nikon’s dedication to superior ergonomics makes the Nikon 1 V2 an admirable blend of form and function. Pick the camera up and you’ll be impressed by how solid and sturdy it feels. Refinements include a magnesium alloy front for tough portability, and the newly developed shutter unit has been tested to 100,000 cycles for superior speed and reliability. The shutter release button has an integrated power switch for speedy start-up and immediate shooting. The high-performance, 1440k-dot electronic viewfinder (EVF) is located along the optical axis to aid composition. A large grip allows a steady hold on the camera, and the built-in flash means there’s always extra light on hand when you need it.
Full creative control
When you want the freedom to shoot scenes exactly as you please, the mode dial on top of the camera offers quick, direct access to PSAM exposure controls, and you can directly access key settings such as ISO and white balance simply by pressing the function button. The command dial boasts a push functionality that lets you confirm selections, or changes to settings, without taking your eye away from the viewfinder. Whether you want to freeze action or blur backgrounds, Live Image Control lets you view the effects of changes to exposure settings in real time so you can be sure about the results.
Next-generation innovations
Just like the Nikon 1 V1, the Nikon 1 V2 harnesses the camera’s phenomenal speed and pre/post capture technology to offer innovative features. Available for the first time, Best Moment Capture comprises Smart Photo Selector and the new Slow View, so you can always get the shot you want. Smart Photo Selector quickly captures up to 20 full-resolution images before and after you’ve fully pressed the shutter button. Slow View captures up to 40 full-resolution continuous shots and simultaneously displays them in slow motion on the LCD screen—so you can select the exact moment you want to keep. And Motion Snapshots are now saved as a single image file that’s easy to share: upload them to any platform and tell stories in a whole new way.
Movie Magic!
Shoot in advanced movie mode with the Nikon 1 V2 and you can record Full HD movies at 60 and 30 fps and 60i, 60p, and 30p frame rates, with full control over shutter speed and aperture. Film with a smaller frame size and you can achieve dramatic effects in extreme slow motion, with recording speeds of up to 1200fps . Shoot in movie mode and you can get the best of both worlds by capturing full-resolution photos (aspect ratio 3:2) while filming a Full HD movie.
Light control: new Speedlight launches
Launching alongside the Nikon 1 V2 is Nikon’s new Speedlight SB-N7 flash unit. This powerful i-TTL compatible Speedlight boasts a guide number of 18/59 (at ISO 100 m/ft), the flash head tilts up to 120°, and an external wide panel is included. It is the ideal piece of kit for photographers who want to control the quality and direction of light in order to add a creative touch to images, or illuminate subjects in low light situations.
I AM ALL FOR ONE: 1 NIKKOR range expands
Nikon’s range of 1 NIKKOR lenses is set to expand with the launch of three new lenses in 2013. Currently in development, the lenses include an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens, a compact 10x high-power zoom lens, and a fast portrait lens. The new lenses will join the recently launched 1 NIKKOR 18.5mm f/1.8 lens, enhancing the flexibility of the Nikon 1 system and opening up new opportunities for Nikon 1 owners. The 1 NIKKOR 18.5mm f/1.8 lens is a fast prime lens that enables superb low light images, even at low ISO, as well as portraits with beautiful bokeh.
Expandable system
The growing range of optional system accessories combine with the portability, power, and speed of Nikon 1 cameras to help you get the most out of your shooting.
FT-1 Mount Adapter: NIKKOR F-mount lenses mounted on the FT-1 mount adapter have a 2.7x focal length crop factor, which means the lens’s angle-of-view becomes almost three times as long. If you use AF-S and AF-I NIKKOR lenses, you can still make full use of the incredible Nikon 1 autofocus system and high-speed continuous shooting rates of 10/30/60 fps .
WU-1b Wireless Mobile Adapter: Nikon’s small wireless mobile adapter makes it quick and simple to share high-quality Nikon 1 images straight from your camera to a smartphone or tablet .
GPS unit GP-N100: tag your Nikon 1 images to the right location with Nikon’s tiny GPS unit.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/4G ED VR

Nikon amplia la gamma degli obiettivi zoom formato FX con la versione f/4 dello 70-200 VR
Torino, 24 ottobre 2012 – Nital S.p.A.
