Min-U Guides Press Release
DSLR Mega HD for iOS - Min-U Guide a Complete Reference to Nikon DSLR
Independent developer Ken Tidwell introduced DSLR Mega HD 1.0 for iOS, another in his series of Min-U Guides to Nikon DSLRs. The app provides quick, easy access to information on 11 Nikons by allowing the user to “drill down” through a topic until they find exactly what they need; e.g., from the first page the user may select the topic Custom Setting Menu from among six others, then Timers from five other choices, and finally Self-Timer from four other listings, with details and instructions.
Portland, Oregon - Independent developer Ken Tidwell has introduced DSLR Mega HD v1.0 for iOS, another in his series of popular Min-U Guides to Nikon DSLRs. The app provides quick, easy access to information by allowing the user to “drill down” through a topic until they find exactly what they need. For example, a new photographer may want to find out how to set the camera’s self-timer so he can appear in a group shot.
If you own more than one Nikon DSLR, please be sure to check out his biggest and newest app, ‘DSLR Mega HD’ for iPad, that contains eleven camera guides (D3, D90, D200, D300, D300s, D700, D3000, D3100, D5000, D5100 and D7000) bundled into on.
From the app’s opening screen the user selects a camera, then, as an example, the topic Setup Menu from among from other chapter/camera menu selections, then they pick Self-Timer Delay, where step-by-step instructions are found. A convenient alternative to carrying bulky, printed reference material, the app also includes a handy list of each camera’s Quick Specs, a troubleshooting checklist, error messages, supported standards, digital photography & DSLR lens glossaries, an iPad Camera Kit overview and recent Nikon product previews for 2011.
The opening screen of DSLR Mega HD consists of eleven cameras, leading to the main camera menu titles, each including a replica of the icon used on the camera display for that menu. The main camera related menu chapters include: Playback (modify playback settings and manage photos an movies), Shooting (configure shooting options), Custom Setting (fine-tune camera settings to your liking), Setup (basic camera configuration), Retouch (create trimmed or retouched copies of existing images), and My Menu/Recent Settings (your custom menu and options). There is also an additional chapter, [More], containing miscellaneous info (camera specs, buttons and dials diagrams, glossaries, error messages, etc.).
Touching any chapter activates a push transition, where the next page enters right to left, pushing off the current page. Similarly, touching any topic on the second page activates another push transition. This smooth, visually appealing navigation system makes moving up and down the hierarchically arranged chapters and sub-chapters intuitive and enjoyable, while faithfully representing the actual camera menus.
DSLR Mega HD v1.0 achieves an ideal balance between comprehensiveness and clarity. Most paragraphs are just a single sentence in length. Instructions contain no unnecessary words, and no unnecessary steps, with no ads, no cross-selling and no need for personal information. The goal of the adage “Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler,” has been achieved here with excellent results. Even when dealing with concepts prone to obfuscation (480p vs. 576p vs. 720p vs. 1080i), the Guide is always factual, straightforward, and easily understood.
Topics Include:
* Active D-Lighting - ADL Bracketing
* AF Area Modes - AE Lock
* AF Assist - Available Shutter Speeds with Flash
* AF Focus Area Selection - Control Panel Reference
* AF Focus Modes - Custom Settings
* Auto Low-Pass - Dust Reference Photo

Tutto in qualità sorprendente a livello professionale.

Messa a fuoco e zoom Anelli

Here’s a quick and easy tip from Scott Kelby for portraiture: reduce the number of distracting elements in the shot by positioning yourself with the background in mind. Sure it’s a simple and obvious tip, but those are usually the kind that come in handy most often.

Green Hills Software Supports Development of Phase One Digital Cameras

Green Hills Software, an independent vendor of embedded software solutions, has announced that its compilers, Green Hills Probe and MULTI integrated development environment (IDE) have been used by Phase One in the development of the Phase One IQ series digital cameras. “An 80-megapixel sensor generates a vast amount of photographic data—the typical image size is almost 500 Mbytes—and Phase One needed its new digital camera to process and stream the data through multiple channels at the same time,” the company said. According to Søren Ilsøe, software architect, Phase One, “Green Hills Software was able to support the processors faster than any other vendor and made their compiler and MULTI IDE available to us at an early stage… Green Hills is a very professional partner and its technical team supported us in a smooth and efficient manner, allowing us to concentrate on delivering our application on schedule.”

Green Hills Software Supports Development of Groundbreaking Phase One Digital Camera
Compilers, Green Hills Probe and MULTI IDE Used for 80MP Digital Camera
BOSTON, MA—(Marketwire - Sep 27, 2011) - Embedded Systems Conference 2011, Booth #409—Green Hills Software, the largest independent vendor of embedded software solutions, has announced that its compilers, Green Hills Probe and MULTI® integrated development environment (IDE) have been used by Phase One (http://www.phaseone.com/), a world-leading maker of professional digital photography equipment, in the development of the Phase One IQ series digital cameras. The IQ series, which features image resolutions of up to 80 megapixels, sets new standards for medium format camera system handling and performance.
Medium format cameras, which are commonly used by professional photographers, feature larger image sensors than consumer DSLR cameras enabling them to record images at much higher levels of definition. The IQ180, IQ160, and IQ140 cameras offer 80, 60.5, and 40 megapixels (MP) resolutions, respectively, allowing users to capture images of extremely high quality and detail reproduction.
An 80 MP sensor generates a vast amount of photographic data—the typical image size is almost 500 Mbytes—and Phase One needed its new digital camera to process and stream the data through multiple channels at the same time. The company implemented a number of high-speed serial interfaces on the main board that enabled the captured image data to be sent to the main processor, Compact Flash memory card, USB 3.0 or IEEE1394 (FireWire) ports simultaneously. This means, for example, that images can be viewed immediately after shooting on a tethered computer, allowing the photographer or client to quickly evaluate success and instigate any changes necessary.
Phase One evaluated a number of processors before embarking on the IQ series development and chose an ARM Cortex-A8 core as its main system processor. In conjunction with this, other ARM and dedicated slave processors are used to handle, for example, camera timing functions, the touch screen display and sensor data unloading.
According to Søren Ilsøe, software architect, Phase One, “Green Hills Software was able to support the processors faster than any other vendor and made their compiler and MULTI IDE available to us at an early stage. This allowed us to conduct a real evaluation of the hardware and simplified our selection process.” He continued, “Once the project started, our experience was that the MULTI toolchain and interconnect via the Green Hills Probe performed exactly as described. Green Hills is a very professional partner and its technical team supported us in a smooth and efficient manner, allowing us to concentrate on delivering our application on schedule.”
Christopher Smith, vice president marketing, Green Hills Software, commented, “The creativity shown by Phase One’s customers is mirrored in its own products, achieving exceptional quality and performance matched with groundbreaking ergonomics. Green Hills Software supports companies that need security, reliability and performance in their applications and we are pleased to have contributed in bringing a product as impressive as the IQ series digital camera to market.”
